External Team

Campus Relations and Recruitment

Contact: Dan Haddad and Lola Oyebefun, umdm.crr@umich.edu

Campus Relations and Recruitment (CRR) primarily facilitates communication between Dance Marathon and the campus community. CRR relates the organizational cause of Dance Marathon to the external commitments of campus-related groups. CRR coordinates the organization's annual recruitment effort, culminating in the gathering of thousands of dancers, moralers, crew members, and visitors at the Marathon itself. CRR responds to any inquiries about Dance Marathon, thus acting as the organization's first impression to any external parties. As a member of CRR, committee members will have the opportunity to impact the organization's image to the entire campus community. You will be in for an exciting year, as our committee establishes partnerships with student organizations, faculty members, and other campus-related groups. Our members should be impassioned about representing our cause everyone on campus!

Community Outreach

Contact: Jessica Brierly-Snowden, umdm.outreach@umich.edu

The Community Outreach Committee's main goal is to unite the entire state of Michigan (and beyond!) with DM's cause. This committee plans and executes community events that get kids and adults of all ages excited about DM's mission. Community Outreach is also responsible for communicating our cause to the public through various forms of media, such as newspaper, radio, and television. An additional task of this committee is to foster student leaders throughout the state of Michigan with our Mini Marathon program. The Mini Marathon program allows students K-12 to develop leadership skills while also serving the community as they plan and execute their own Dance Marathon. This committee is ideal for fun-loving individuals who have an interest in public relations, event planning, or who simply want to spread the word about this awesome organization!

Development

Contact: Aaron Hans and Nicole Armbruster, umdm.development@umich.edu

The Development Committee is responsible for building and fostering sustainable relationships with local and national corporations as well as with our many Alumni. Our main goals lie in soliciting philanthropic donations from these corporations and ensuring that they, along with our alumni, form a lasting relationship with Dance Marathon and have the best possible experience with Dance Marathon.

Hospitality

Contact: Meg Harrison, umdm.hospitality@umich.edu

The Hospitality Committee is responsible for soliciting food donations from local and corporate sponsors to feed participants at the Marathon and other year-round events. Throughout the year we'll also plan benefit dinners, contact new sponsors, and develop sponsor incentives. As a member of the Hospitality Committee, you'll get a chance to build marketing and communication skills as well as form relationships with restaurant sponsors on campus.

Promotions

Contact: Jess Hoffman, umdm.promotions@umich.edu

The Promotions Committee is in charge of creating a visual image and "brand" for Dance Marathon both on and off campus. From designing t-shirts and banners to brainstorming brand new ways to market the organization (like painting "DM" in the snow!), the Promotions team decides how to creatively and strategically portray Dance Marathon to the community. If you're innovative and crafty, or if you're interested in a career in marketing, advertising, new media, graphic design, or PR, then this is the committee for you!
