Of course, many of us have different experiences with different products but usually when people are purchasing printers it tends to be either Epson or Canon which they go for which I've had a lot of experience with both yet the Canon IP series have ALWAYS been really good, reliable and have completely wiped Epson out of the water for me now, which I'll explain why it's better to get a Canon printer as opposed to an Epson after years of experience with both.As mentioned above, over the years I've had both makes and I have had some Epson printers in the past too which have been great however in the long run I've had a lot of trouble with the Epson printers as opposed to Canon and with my last experience with Epson too, it completely nailed it for me as to why I'll never go for Epson again, which again I will explain. Before I got Canon IP7250 printer here I initially bought the Epson Expression Premium XP-6000 first yet had a LOT of trouble with this, my previous printer was a Canon Pixma MG7550 but I went for the Epson one as my replacement yet had a LOT of trouble with it, the worse thing was when I needed help Epson didn't care and even said to me to leave a bad review (which I don't like to do but of course people want to know if buying a printer) so I did leave my review on Amazon for the Epson Expression Premium XP-6000 printer, not only that, Epson ended up costing me a lot of money in the process too wasting ink (which is expensive), photo paper, discs etc... yet they wanted me to run these things using up all the ink but weren't prepared to compensate the loss of ink, paper, discs etc.. in any way, they just kept asking me to do more and more stuff knowing that the issue was just wasting all this, first off the Epson disc printing was terrible an there was NO high quality option to print on the discs meaning the prints were slightly blurry and there was nothing you could do about it, they tried to blame it on the software issue yet even with their own software the high quality option was either greyed out or wasn't there (basically, it's not good at disc printing), printing a black and white photo was putting in like colour tints for some reason and same with a colour photo it was creating that washing up liquid effect slightly in the images (read my review on the Epson Expression Premium XP-6000 to see how bad it was), anyway long story short I bought this printer as a replacement in October and it worked perfectly fine, printing high quality on CD's as it should be, prints were better quality with no colour tints in black and white pictures or any washing up liquid type tints in colour images (bare in mind it was the SAME images I printed with both printers), the Canon printer is fantastic with NO issues, easy to set up and just brilliant.Seriously, if you're deciding between which printer to get go for a Canon, of course choose the Canon model that suits you and does what it needs to do for you however when it comes to choosing between Epson or Canon as both these companies are what usually come up quite often then lean towards the Canon model every time, I promise you you will be making a way better purchase where as with an Epson, be prepared for a lot of potential problems and serious lack of help and care (I can't over comment on Canon's customer service as I've never needed them which I guess can only be a good thing).I hope this has helped.

Canon Pixma IP7250Whilst there are many reviews of this printer, this is an update as of January 2015.Like many others, I bought this as a replacement photo printer to the trusty old IP4500, which, although it still prints silently and rapidly, has developed a fault that only 50% of the yellow ink jet works (NOT a blockage) which causes pictures to have a cyan / blue tint. Too expensive to get a repair but kept for non photo applications. This IP7250 is a neat unit where the paper trays have been incorporated into the body of the unit - an upper try for 4 x 6 and 7 x 5 papers/photo paper and a lower one for A4 ( paper / photo paper) which ,if you take it out and turn it over will act as a print tray for CD/DVD's.One very attractive feature is that the inks are seperate ( main black , minor black , yellow ,magenta and cyan) so that if one runs out you do not have to change all at once and even the compatible inks are available separatelyUnlike the IP4500, this unit can be connected wirelessly to several computers/laptops (as well as a conventional USB direct connection cable). The instructions for set up are clear but sadly my first unit from Amazon was faulty and it failed at the setup of the ink trays - I suspect that a mechanical shock had caused a misalignment. If you get the power light ( white) warning light ( orange) flashing alternately at set up , and it won't go away with repeating set up several times (as instructions) then return for a new one. Amazon replaced it immediately - no quibble (free delivery/collection) - and this latest unit set up perfectly. Only comment is that the ink charge cycle is so noisy compared to the IP4500.Initial in use commentsWe set up the wireless (BTHUB 3) link as per instructions and put the software (minus the image garden) on my laptop (Samsung RF711) and the wife's Acer. There have been occasional loss of Wi-Fi linkage but I get this occasionally with the BT Hub3 as their hardware / software tends to be total junk lately. It is easy to re link - repeat as per set up instructions. Both laptops printed reasonably well to 6 x 4 prints. You can load several 6 x 4 sheets in the cartridge at once and there is no apparent problem with the feed (contrast the A4 photo paper)Although the colours were good some of the prints from my Samsung (printed from Microsoft picture manager) were somewhat dark and had to be adjusted. The ones from Windows picture manager on the Acer were perfect.I also print special prints to A4 on 230gsm Canon or Epson paper. Whereas on the IP4500 ( being a top loader - a partial gravity/pull feed) you could load up several A4 photo paper sheets , the IP7250 - at least to date - is only allowing a single sheet at a time without the dreaded " paper jam " signals - which via wireless , neatly appear on the computer. Whether this will change with time remains to be seen how much an irritation it is depends as to if and how many A4 prints you make at any one time - it rather defeats the wireless advantage.Canon inks cost more than the printer (£60 at time of writing) so I use Inkredible inks (4 sets for £24 on offer)We haven't yet explored the full capabilities of traditional text printing like duplex. Thus unit is mainly to be used for photo printsSo, a neat printer, somewhat noisy on ink recharge, not sure as to how robust it will be long term (you get what you pay for).Suggestion - to avoid print head failures - DO a nozzle check / print in colour at least once a month. Do shut down (turn off) at the printer first to cap the ink heads, not just at the wall. Do change inks well before they totally run out and if you are leaving the printer unused for a long time replace any ink that is showing low. The compatible inks are cheap enough! If you want a good basic wireless printer, capable of both A4 text sheets and photo prints (A4 / 6 x 4, 7 x 5) you could do a lot worse than this.Provisionally rated at 4 star , if the A4 tray issue is not a limitation, you may rate it 5 starUPDATE 9th March - I have been printing many A4 pictures from holidays and after some 100 prints wish to report that a) the issue of not feeding the A4 inkjet paper more than one sheet at a time has self corrected b) wireless dropout has disappeared c) It is still somewhat noisy - even in "quiet" mode d) Using a combination of Canon paper with Inkredible comatible inks for Canon gives excellent results colourwise Definitiely rating as 5 star!UPDATE 1st October 2015 Whilst I will hold the rating as 5 star for performance ( even with non Canon inks) be aware that unless you use Canon original ink, the software "My Image Garden" WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO WORK - sneaky CanonUPDATE 10th October 2015 - the printer has FAILED after only 9 months - the cyan delivery system is kaput and it is not a simple ink residue blockage .Still under warranty. Will submit for repair under warranty but cheaper to buy a new printer for speed!! Caveat Emptor!UPDATE 26th October 2015 - liked it so much I ordered a new one whilst getting Canon to fix the old one. Sadly the so called new product from Amazon - finally sent after 2 weeks - turned out to be a returned product missing the instructions and key items so could not be usedHappy update sometime 2016I have found that temporarily installing a genuine Canon Cyan ink gets the old system working again and it now works again perfectly with the Inkredible inks .Have churned out many excellent A4 prints of our world travels
